Call for abstracts opens for MM2023

The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) has opened the call for abstracts for Australia’s largest scientific pharmacy conference.

Abstract submissions – original research, pharmacy practice and case reports – for Medicines Management 2023, the 47th SHPA National Conference will close at 11.59am AEST, Monday 7 August 2023.

SHPA Vice President Dr Kate O’Hara says demand is high for the blockbuster event as specialty pharmacy practice continues to thrive.

‘We’re thrilled to open the call for abstracts for our amazing annual conference, which continues to grow in scope and influence in an evolving pharmacy landscape.

‘As a peak health body with a unique perspective on ensuring optimal use of medicines, SHPA is preparing another diverse program showcasing the edge of practice that will inspire upcoming pharmacy Residents and aspiring researchers, leading pharmacists, technicians and their peers.’

Dr O’Hara says delegates and visitors will be welcomed by ‘space to grow’ as Medicines Management returns to the tropics for the first time in nearly ten years.

‘We’ve listened to members, who have told us value the space to connect at their own pace and on their own terms, and we look forward to delivering our full-scale conference with an individualised feel when we return to regional Australia.

‘”Space to grow” equally applies to our vision for practitioners, who we support to carve out diverse career paths through recognition of their impacts and achievements in different pharmacy disciplines.

‘Pharmacists and technicians who specialise as part of team-based care represent the future of care across all settings – in our hospitals, in the community, in residential aged care, and at home – and we look forward to celebrating this impact on patient outcomes in Cairns in November.’

Abstract submission and review information, as well as information for presenters, is available on SHPA’s MM2023 website.
