Foundation Seminar in Infectious Diseases

Registrations for the SHPA Foundation Seminar in Infectious Disease are now closed! If you still want to register for this event, please email events@shpa.org.au.

The Foundation Seminar in Infectious Diseases will be delivered by a combination of a self-paced learning package covering key infectious diseases principles followed by a one day live virtual seminar that will build on these concepts. Participants will have the opportunity to interact and learn from leading infectious diseases clinicians during the live seminar to develop the basic skills required to manage patients with infectious diseases. The choice of antimicrobial therapy for common infection syndromes (bacterial and fungal) will be discussed along with the rationale behind antimicrobial selection. Participants will also gain an understanding of the pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) of antimicrobials and the clinical application of PK/PD and therapeutic drug monitoring to optimise the efficacy of antimicrobial agents.

The self-paced learning package comprises approximately 12 hours of learning material and will be available from Friday 5 May 2023. The live virtual component of this seminar will take place on Saturday 17 June 2023
