Stan Grant leads stellar line up as Medicines Management 2024 registrations open
Early bird registrations have opened for Australia’s largest scientific pharmacy conference – Medicines Management 2024 (MM2024) – featuring a stellar line up of keynote speakers including renowned journalist Stan Grant, professional artist and visual storyteller Simon Banks and researcher and thoughtleader Yemi Penn.
Taking place in Adelaide from the 14-16 November 2024, Medicines Management is Australia’s largest scientific pharmacy conference and an annual highpoint of pharmacy innovation and collaboration for more than six decades.
Following the Ministerial Address at the Opening Plenary from The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care, the opening keynote presentation will be delivered by Stan Grant, renowned author, moral philosopher, thinker, film maker and communicator with a groundbreaking four-decade career as one of Australia’s most awarded journalists.
Plenary two will begin with an address by Senator Anne Ruston, Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, before Simon Banks brings a dynamic energy to the stage, incorporating his experience as a professional artist to use visual storytelling and drawings to challenge the audience to reframe their thinking and embrace all types of creativity.
Closing off the incredible program in the final plenary, Yemi Penn will lead delegates into action via her ‘rebellious curiosity’, encouraging a shift in perspective to embrace new mindsets for peak performance in a sustainable manner.
SHPA Vice President Dr Kate O’Hara FANZCAP (Neonatol., Paeds) says the line-up of keynote presenters this year is sure to captivate, motivate and educate attendees.
‘With innovation at the heart of SHPA, and the very theme of this year’s event, we are thrilled to have Simon dive into innovation and creativity using design theory to challenge the pharmacists and technicians in the audience to drive innovation into their workplaces.

‘And, of course, we are especially honoured to have Stan Grant take us on a journey through his remarkable life as a journalist and fearless advocate to show us how important communication is when questioning justice and fighting for the rights of First Nations people.
‘It’s truly an incredible and eclectic line-up of presenters this year covering a range of areas to support delegates to perform at their best and work as a great complement to what is also shaping up to be a dynamic and diverse program.’
Abstract submissions are still open to practitioners from all care settings until 11.59pm AEST Monday 15 July 2024, and are welcome in three categories: original research, pharmacy practice and case reports.
Says Dr O’Hara, ‘We encourage all practitioners, no matter where they work or their role, to submit an abstract and show us that “spark” that could ignite a whole new way of thinking.’
